Wales announce Finland friendly

LONDON, Sept 26, 2013 (AFP) - Wales will play Finland in an international friendly in Cardiff on November 16, the Football Association of Wales announced on Thursday.

The match at the Cardiff City Stadium will take place at the same time as the World Cup qualifying play-offs, but neither Wales nor Finland can qualify for next year's extravaganza in Brazil.

The sides last met in October 2009, with Finland winning 2-1.

"This is an ideal friendly for us as we look ahead," said Wales manager Chris Coleman.

"Finland have always produced good, strong technical players and I have no doubt that they will be a very good test for us.

"From a personal point of view, I remember playing against them for Wales in the first game at the Millennium Stadium in March 2000 when they beat us 2-1. Ryan Giggs scored for us in front of 66,000 fans."
